![]() It is showing how much you are attracted to a person and telling them that it is real and not a game. ‘Deep Down’ is about a woman’s passion for her man and revealing what she feels deep down her heart. It’s contemporary pop-dance and a very catchy track. ![]() The track is produced by an award winning producer, Sven Tydeman. My latest release is called ‘Deep Down’, composed by a multi-award winning songwriter Anirban Jee and I recorded it in Sydney at Kitty Groove Studios. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but never give up and follow your dreams.Ġ9. What’s the best advice you’ve been given in your career? Never give up on your dreams. I can play instruments such as keyboard, guitar, bass and drums but only self-taught.Ġ8. Give us a little fun fact about yourself that people might not know. What are your favourite songs of all time? Actually I love everything but if I have to choose one, I guess it’s ‘Halo’ by Beyoncé, because that song made me famous.Ġ7. Who have been your musical influences? Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Tina Arena and many more.Ġ6. My current single is in the pop-dance genre and so I think I am good at it.Ġ5. I discover that I can do heaps of genres and turn into a versatile singer catering to many genres. I was once a rocker when I was in a female band and our repertoire was mostly rock songs like Guns N Roses, Heart, The Eagles, etc. Tell us a little bit about your sound and how it developed. Music is my passion and till now I am enjoying my career and what I have achieved so far.Ġ4. I started travelling to perform overseas including Asia and Europe when I was just 18 years old. How did you get your start in music? I have been singing since I was 10 years old. With her new single ‘Deep Down’ available now, we popped our eleven questions through to Mary Ann to Get To Know her a little more.Ġ3. ![]() Though she didn’t make it through to the final 24, she’s used the platform to launch into her solo career. Mary Ann Van Der Horst took the ‘X Factor’ stage by storm back in 2014 with her performance of Beyoncé’s classic ‘Halo’ ( HERE), resulting in all four judges giving her a standing ovation.
